Executing the Perfect Summer Event

In Australia, we’re fortunate enough to have our silly season land smack bang in the middle of our summer season. This means all of our festivities are celebrated the only way we know how – in the sand and sun! If you’re thinking of hosting an event this season, we’ve got some great tips on creating the perfect summer event!

Stay Hydrated

Regardless of where you’re holding your event, you’ll need to stay hydrated in the heat. Cold water is a necessity – cocktails on arrive is also not a bad idea! If you’re thinking something a little more family friendly, get a juice station going and juice up some delicious veggies to serve on ice!

Sizzling Service

If you want to continue the relaxed vibe of the event, kick back and relax. Let a team of caterers take care of the food options for you so you don’t have to worry about a thing. Having food catered doesn’t always have to involve fancy canapes either, we recommend considering a mezze sharing platter for your guests.

Pool Party

On a hot summer’s day, there’s nothing like cooling off with a swim. Take a look at various locations in your area where a pool can be provided. Guests will really appreciate the luxurious look of a pool area for an event, as well as being able to have a dip when the sun gets too much.

Everyone loves Ice Cream

Check out your local options for an ice cream truck service. Having ice cream at your event adds an element of fun, playfulness and both adults and kids can get around a tasty treat that helps them cool down!

What is Event Branding?

What makes an event stand out against others? What is it, that will drive guests to label it as a “must attend”?

Sometimes it’s exclusivity, sometimes it’s a celebrity appearance or a guest speaker, sometimes it’s the entertainment. More often than not, it’s when a company has done a good job at branding the event.

Event Branding is creating a collection of images and elements that are sourced around the event itself. The events industry is a competitive one, and in order to host a successful event the marketing around the event needs to be spot on for the target audience. This is exactly what event branding is – it’s creating a brand or image around the event that will sell to the target guests.

Often creating this brand will takes months to organise and be noticed. It needs to be thoroughly promoted through social media sources and an Event Management Australia team. But first, the image needs to be strategized and planned out. There are a number of elements to creating a successful Event Branding strategy, including:

Consistent use of your logo. The logo for your event should be the basis of your brand. Sure, your event is more than this token image but consistently using it will make it the image that represents your brand, and your event. We recommend using your logo on posters, balloons, projections at the event and stickers that are given out to guests.

Customise elements of the event with your logo. When planning your event, you’re likely to decide on catering food, beverages, and goods. Tailor these elements by adding your logo to them. Any packaged snacks? Stick your logo on them. Cocktails on arrival? Have the glasses printed with your logo on the front. Napkins? Customise them to have your logo on one side.

Use the power of Social Media. In 2019, it’s important that social media is a large part of your event and its branding. If you haven’t already, create social media business profiles for the brand of your event. Track likes, shares, retweets and create your own hashtag that can be used by the guests. Encourage attendees to get around your social media to create your event brand and promote the function.

Choosing the Right Theme for Your Event

When planning and organising an event, one of the first things to consider is the theme of the event. This will largely be dependent on what the event is for and will be the overarching idea or concept that will drive the entire event.

A themed event doesn’t just have to be a private event or party, there are plenty of themes that are applicable to corporate, brand and product events and functions. Having a theme for an otherwise plain event will engage the attendees, inspire the guests and make the entire function just that little bit more exciting.

When trying to decide on your event theme, take some time to brainstorm around the event and the brand behind it. Even in the case of a private event, what message do you want to represent? The theme that you choose should be in line with the brand, the host, and the events main purpose.

Choose a theme for your event that will be well received by your target audience. The main goal for your event should be to have the attendees enjoy themselves on the big day. Have a look at your target audience and what they might expect from this event, and plan accordingly. If children will be in attendance, make it family friendly. Or if the event is to showcase your work to potential clients, keep it professional.

Take a look at your venue and ensure it aligns with your chosen themes. Be well organised, realistic and consistent with your venue choice and the theme, just as an event organizing company would. Ask yourself, does the theme suit the venue? Is the venue being used to its full potential with your chosen theme?

Once you’ve chosen the theme, it’s important to stick with it! As soon as you’ve announced the theme of your event, do not backtrack and change your mind – it diminishes the validity and importance of the theme to the event. Be sure the event is entirely consistent with the theme, down to the entertainment, food and beverages, and complimentary gifts.
